Gold Glitter Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

I got a few requests on my Instagram (@Crumble_Newman) on a tutorial for how to do my look from the Masquerade Ball I went to last month! Because of the masquerade mask, and how little time I had to get my makeup done, I went for a very easy but very impressive-looking gold sparkles look! This is a deceptively difficult-looking technique for quick glam looks - this takes 10 minutes with the right tools, and can be used for any kind of event you need to look glam in a hurry for!

First, I started with a blank canvas - I always blend a high coverage concealer or an eyeshadow base on my lids. My base of choice is MAC Painterly Paint Pot (buy here), followed by a matte white shadow to set. 

After I've set my lids, I take a blending brush (the one pictured, my favourite, is a Morphe MB23, buy here) and using a windshield wiper motion, blend a soft brown into the crease, and a blend up a little to the brow bone.

Then you want to deepen up your crease - for this I used a deeper, chocolate-y brown, Cocoa Bear by Makeup Geek. I took a slightly denser brush (in this case, Spectrum C06, buy here) and focused on the outer corner of my lids, as well as bringing the colour under my eyes (this will look very out of place until we add a center-lid shade, but bear with it).

Now here's the trick to making glitter stay put alllll night - Inglot's Duraline. Duraline is a little bottle of liquid with a thousand uses - one of my favourite ways to use it is adding a drop to any gel liner or brow gel/pomade that's gone a bit dry - it immediately revitalises any formula, not to mention making it waterproof. Duraline is about 12 euro and will last you forever, so I recommend the investment!

Using any kind of flat concealer brush, Duraline and a glitter of choice (whilst picking up Duraline I also got a nice gold glitter from Inglot also) you're going to make a paste - I just do it on the back of my hand - using two drops of Duraline on the back of my hand, I then add glitter bit by bit until I have a paste that's easy to work with.

The easiest way to place the glitter is to work with that same flat concealer brush, and work from the innermost corner of the eye, and work outwards until you reach about the mid-way point of your eyelid.

To make sure there are no harsh lines where the eyeshadow stops and glitter starts, go in once more with the deeper brown shadow and blend a little at the point the glitter and eyeshadow meet. You can also deepen the colour in the outer corner if you want to, though I wanted a very basic look, so left it as it was.

I finished the look with a matte red lip, a winged liner and mascara (you can add lashes to make it even more glam!) et voila! An easy look for events where you just need to look like you put in a lot more time and effort than you actually did :P
