505 Jumper How-To DIY

I've gotten one or two asks about this on Tumblr and Instagram, so I'm glad I took pictures during the making of this jumper! 505 is one of my absolute favourite Arctic Monkeys songs, and I have wayyy too many plain jumpers, so naturally it made sense to me that the next step was to make a 505 printed jumper.

It seems difficult to some people apparently, but I assure you it's soooo easy to print on an item of clothing!

So, you want to print on an item of clothing? Here's how:

1. Trace a vague outline of where the print should be on your clothing, in sewing chalk or a friction-remove pen like I used.

2. Trace the shape out on a piece of paper, like a stencil. You can go freehand, but be warned,it's difficult! Sellotape the stencil to the fabric, and place a newspaper inside the item of clothing, underneath all of the design.

3. I used this fabric paint, which you can get in a huge range of colours, and is only about four euro/three pounds. Any Arts & Crafts store should have some!

4. Using a sponge or a brush, start to dab fabric paint on!

5. I had to hand-paint the fives on this,but it is difficult. Make sure to use and edged brush!

6. When all paint is definitely dry, put an old piece of fabric over the design, and give it a good iron! If using a friction-remove pen like I did, the iron will get rid of it, and if using sewing chalk, wipe it off BEFORE ironing. 

TA-DAAAAH! A design that will survive even washing. 

Jumper done. And I am a very happy bunny.

What do you mean stamping isn't productive?

So, whilst I was meant to be studying, I made some stamps out of carrots (we're out of potatoes) and listened to Belle & Sebastian.


I do love brightening up the inside covers of books!

Taking Allll The Purple Out Of My Hair!

So, I've had purple hair for about 3 months now, and I have loooved every second of it!
But now, it's pink, it's grey, it's orange - it's all over the place, is what I'm saying. So, I've decided to change it.
I've gotten questions about this, so for anyone with a brightly dyed colour in the red, orange, blonde, purple range - here's how I changed my hair from this -

To this colour,a brown with a light ombre, very quickly.

What I Used :

• Bread Soda

• Preference Wild Ombre Colour in No.1 (€6.99)

• Nice N' Easy permanent dye in Natural Ash Brown, or darker. (€7.99)

• Argan Oil (or hair oil of any kind)

 So, with a bright colour dyed over bleached hair, what you'll want to do is fade it over a couple days - 

1. Make a mixture of a cheap shampoo, (I'm talking proper cheap, now) and a little bread soda and wash your hair thoroughly a couple times in a row, until you've noticed a bit more dullness in your hair colour.

Make sure to wash out very well.

2. Using some of the bleach from the Preference pack, lighten any patches of your hair that have stayed darker than others, if needed. 

3. Focusing on the roots and any darker patches, use the Nice N' Easy dye as shown on the box.

4. At this stage, to prevent too much damage from applying bleach, apply Argan oil throughout the lengths and ends of your hair and leave for about 30 minutes. 

5. When hair is dry, use the Preference ombre pack , making sure to concentrate on patches of hair that may be tinted your previous bright colour, and on the ends. Apply to ends first for 5 minutes before progressing upwards. I left it all for 40 minutes.

Wash out after bleach has developed, and condition well! 

There may be a slight sheen of your previous colour, but after a little while, another coat of darker dye will cover it.

So, that's how I got this in one day, hope it works for you!

An IKEA favourite..

Well hello again my darlings!
I'm going to start off my new blog entries with something very simple that I just looove - IKEA photo frames, especially the one I continually buy every time I go to IKEA - *points to picture below*

I end up buying this frame (which you can put a photo into on both sides) every time - because it's only €1!
And I'm a sucker for bargains.
I used to spray paint these, as with all IKEA frames - but no need anymore, they sell coloured ones now!
(They'd still look good gold or silver spray-painted, mind you!)

 As you can see below, I use mine for cute postcards, or art prints. These are soooo versatile!
